This code just popped up on my 01 1500 5.9. From what im being told this is more than likely the end of my trans. Anyone have any other solutions?

Could possibly be the TCC solenoid sensor, located in the valve body of the transmission. I've replaced mine, and the 1740 hasn't come back *yet*.

From my understanding, it is caused when there is an unexpected rpm difference between engine output to what is transferred between the torque converter and the transmission. It could be the torque converter going bad; or it could be the torque converter clutch solenoid going bad, or being plugged that causes irregular torque converter lock/unlock.

I could very well be wrong though. Last time I did the tranny fluid change, I put in a new tcc solenoid, and have not had the same code. But I have done a lot of other changes, and the code was not occurring on a regular basis, so it may come back.
