yep sounds like bent frame loosen bolts then try to close it again.

 

Side question, especially applicable if the frame is bent... if you got rear ended, why didn't their insurance pay for your repairs? Or is Alabama one of those ridiculous no-fault states?

 

There is no way in heck that the frame is not bent. Just look at the misalignment of the cab and bed.

+6 on that that, the truck took a hell of a shot to the back bumper.

 

FYI for you guys that are rolling around with your tool box being held in place by gravity (the ones that go over the bed rails that is). They make drill-less tool box fasteners that clamp to the bed rails. You clamp them, the tool box goes over them and then screws go through the tool box into the fastener clamp from the inside of the tool box. That way you never have to drill a hole in your truck. Plus, no-one can steal your tool box, and it won't come flying out in the event of an accident. I bought a set at PepBoys, but I think most auto parts stores or online parts places (JC Whitney) would sell them.

 

Plain old j-bolts from the hardware store work well, too.

 

To answer all the questions
1) yes the frame is bent but only on the piece of steel from the rear axel on the right, back and a small ripple infront of that axel. Its amazing i got away with that little.
2)yes my insurance would cover it if i had had it lol he lied to the cops about having insurance, so im in the process of suing him This is because i ended up spliting my head on the corner of my sliding rear window in my extended cab? Not sure how that happened, anyways my seats are broken too.


I have a completely off the subject question but this would save me from posting another thread.....

ok 1) how do you find out which u-joint is bad? ive tried wiggling them but i cant notice anything 2)when i tried so remove the back shaft i noticed that there is somesort of joint or something that seems to connect two different shafts. how do you remove it? someone advise please?
