Lightbulb 94-01 Dodge RAM 'mod ideas'

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

^Anybody running these? To cheap to use? You guys think I should go with some summit headers instead? I'm coming from the import world, but I know that T304 is good steel. I'm just not sure of the fitment of these as I just looked them up the other day. I'm looking to do just a intake and header upgrade on the truck. I Installed some headlights the other day which turned out to look pretty descent. I'm on a budget on this one as I have two race engines that I'm in the process of building. Sorry for all the eBay links, I know how their products can be at times. Any help would be great guys.

Thanks,MR

^Headlights I installed.

^Intake in mind.

I really wouldnt trust that filter. It looks like a cheap *** K&N. Do an advanced search in the second gen Ram section for 14x3.

If I was getting headers, JBA or Edelbrock headers that are ceramic coated at the very least.

most v6 owners ive seen on other websites put on a stock v8 throttle body for top end. Fix your plenum and cut the runners a bit

^I just checked my PM's. A guy told me to pick this one up. It looks great and the filter is a heck of a lot better.

^I have a 1996 5.2L V8.

^I just did a search and read where a guy said something about this. I'll search some more and figure out what I need to do. I only have about 15 or so post over here, so I'm still fairly new, but I'll dig into my advance search mod. What you guys think of the header? I'm getting 50/50 reviews from the my search.

I'm not really that concerned about them turning blueish looking. I've had a SSAC set on my SE-R do that before. The header I just picked up is a custom made 4-2-1 by ASP that will be ceramic coated in chromex for my SE-R. I'm trying to keep this project under $500 for now. Should I look into a better exhaust system with the header upgrade? Is the stock ok?

1.) Headlights - $118.99 - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...13773&viewitem=

2.) Intake system - $113.99 - http://www.jegs.com/i/Spectre/865/9931/10002/-1?CT=999

3.) Headers - $140 - http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT

Total as of right now $372.98

^Apparently it is universal.

PART #MAKE/MODELOR-AIP-D1X03C-RDodge 1994-2001 Ram 1500 Pickup V6 3.9L, V8 5.2L, V8 5.9L
Dodge 1994-2001 Ram 2500 Pickup V8 5.2L, V8 5.9L

^Here is the description from the auction.

1.) Do I want a loud truck? No.
2.) Emmissions testing? No.
3.) I'm just looking to add an extra step to the truck. 7-10WHP would be ok with me. I'm just looking to get rid of the cast iron headers and and some extra air coming into the TB.

you can get a jegs off road y-pipe which would eliminate the cat, the y-pipe is the biggest restriction. Will add some rumble . Also can get a 14x3 air cleaner and make an "S" bolt for around 35 bucks at any parts store. Gives it that old school look and flows just as much as a cold air intake

In 1996 did they switch to both pipes into the cat or does your truck still have a y-pipe followed by a cat?

My 1994 has the y-pipe followed by cat setup and the factory y-pipe was awful, it was more of a T-pipe and the bends were not mandrel. Instead of just buying an off the shelf bolt in I modified my y-pipe. I left the pipes connected to the header and cut out the factory y-pipe. Then I put a flowmaster collector in http://www.summitracing.com/parts/FLO-Y200250/ but the angles were off so I had to extend the factory 2" pipes. A single 18" piece with one flared end was enough for me. I tacked everything up then removed it and fully welded it. I also suggest using exhaust collector rings to bolt your exhaust together. Use quality gaskets and you won't have a leak and it allows the exhaust to be easily removed in sections when the tranny is replaced. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G4760/

When I installed my setup with summit brand truck headers that were significantly cleaned up and repainted I noticed little power but the truck sounded way better. Personally I suggest just fixing your plenum and installing HS 1.7 Roller Rockers for the most power gains at the lowest price. Unless you are turning 4000+ rpm a cold air intake won't do much. I can't even remember the last time my truck saw that kind of rpm, remember its a truck. BTW I am speaking from experience I have a K+N FIPK2.

The thing that concerns me about them headers is the quality. I dont believe that some Chinese made $110 headers will last very long. I wouldnt want to put them on my truck, then a week later they start leaking.

well frist for free/time mod your TB

Intake systems its up to you on way you was your trucks power, the 14x3 i think performs the best at high rpms, the cold air intake is a alot better than the 14x3 at lower rpms but no better as good as the 14x3 at those upper rpm

so were u want your power is up to u,,

second headers are not really the best dang for the buck

if you have about 325-350 dollars to spend i would good with the 1.7rr(those by them self will make the hp that u are looking for)

if you do go with the cold air intake i would wait to make sure that all the air hats you recalled on the Spectre (there is about a week old thread on that)
