valve cover breather?
hello i was wondering what size valve cover breather i need to replace my PCV valve when i put on a 14x3 on my dodge? anyone know what size i need and if it needs to be push in or screw in? any help would be great!
I have 2001 dodge ram 1500 4x4 laramie with a 5.2l
I located the FAQ about installing the 14x3 but it does not include size or type of breather. thanks

You don't replace your PCV valve with a breather.
One side has the PCV valve with a hose going into the intake manifold. The other has a hose going into (was going into) your stock air filter assembly. The one that used to go into your air filter assembly you replace with a breather. The PCV valve/hose you leave plugged into your intake manifold.

i don't remember. i replaced pcv and the breather elbow on my 01 and the rubber grommets were so hard and dry that i couldn't get either of them out without breaking them, and then ended up cutting the grommets out with a knife and replacing them too.
my breather elbow and pcv were 2 different sizes and i just measured them once they were removed. i ended up getting the rubber grommets at the dealer for not much money, and the pcv and breather at local parts store.
to get the pcv and breather out without breaking them, squirt wd40 around the grommets several times and let it soak in. then grab the device with a pair of pliers and twist it out while pulling. don't pull on the elbow part and break it like i did.
