Im not sure about law but shops around here will do whatever you like if there is no cat on the truck when you take it too them...so maybe it falls off on the way to the muffler shop( I think thats what happend to my cat)

I got it done and went with 2.5" pipes they ran it along the passenger side, I had a magnaflow muffler that has the X-pipe in it installed, only needed one muffler and took care of x-pipe at same time, that was right after cab, then the pipes are ran over axle and go there seperate ways snaked around where the spare was and the hitch and come out in about factory location

heres a couple pics for thought

There is no inspection process in Kansas. I could run open manifolds if I could stand the noise. The only laws that would be of concern is a noise law that local yokels enforce on a very lax basis. It is somewhat of a common practice that if the cat falls off in the driveway, then it didnt have one on when it arrived at the shop.

I talked with my shop again, and he was planning on using 2" pipes from the manifolds to the mufflers. He also was going to use an X right where the two pipes meet over on the passenger side. We were going to put the pre cat 02 in the x, then use the non fouler trick for the second sensor.

Like I said, we are going to use short glass packs, then run the pipes back and bring them out behind the rear tires to the sides. I always like that look.

I have chrome tips on now, and will reuse them.

Thanks for the help!

Well, regardless of your local laws, there are federal emissions standards. I don't run a cat, but if you are caught on a highway by someone who cares to look, you will be fined something like $2,500, even if there are no municipal regulations.

I've also heard a tale about an accident where the car was on it's side- and the Highway Patrolman had ample opportunity to stand there and look at the rig... and make the citation..

The insurance refused to pay-out due to the owner operating a 'highway illegal vehicle'..

at some point, you got to ask yourself- how much are those maybe 3~5 ponies worth?

Why not just find two old cats, gut them and cut them in half, and weld them around the new piping, giving the look that there are cats there AND they are welded...?

That seems like alot of work, I dont have a cat, neither do any other vehicles in the driveway except for my moms bmw, so thats four trucks that dont have a cat, half of the people I hang out with dont have them, cats around here are one of the first things to go, and I have never heard about anyone gettin a ticket for not having one.

to the OP sounds like a good plan......are you looking for torque

State troopers/highway patrol are the only ones who I could see checking, since they are used to giving truckers a hard time for equipment issues.

Well I didn't install the duals on my truck. They were on it when I got the truck. It has the Edelbrock shorty headers. They start off with 2,5 pipes and run under the trans and turn down the lift side of the truck. There are 2 O2 sincers one before the cats and one after. Then there is a short 2.5 coming from both cats to two flowmaster 40's . They have offset inputs and the 40's are side by side. From the 40's it goes to 3 inch all the way out the back. There is no x pipe on mine. I hope this helps
