1. what is correct orientation for the weight on the torque converter and the weight on the drive plate?
2. my bolt holes on my torque converter do not line up properly with the drive plate. torque converter measures 9 7/8" drive plate measures 10". have ordered 6 different torque converters and either the the bolt pattern is wrong or the dogs on the torque converter are to big. has anybody ever had a problem with over sizing the bolt holes on the drive plate a little bit?

Are you sure you have the correct drive plate?

As I recall, the holes in the drive plate are NOT evenly spaced...... one is offset some, so the t/c only bolts up one way...... if that isn't the case, then, It shouldn't matter.

Double check this.
I had the same issue bolting new tranny to the engine flex plate.
Holes look in a square pattern but they will only bolt one way. (not quite a square)
Loosen your bolts and try different set of holes.
Hope this helps

tryed that did not work like i said the bolt patterns are different by 1/8". can get three bolts in fine but it puts the plate out of center and then the fourth bolt hole is off by half. i do have a drive plate off a 318 that has the correct bolt pattern to the torque converter but it does not have a weight on it like the one off the 360.

94beater what did you do to correct this in your situation?

You have tried each individual hole.
For me it looked like it was going to fit initially. Until I got to the last hole, which was off about 1/8".
Tried the next hole with the same result.
Third hole was the charm - everything lined up.
But then again I got the 318 and maybe few things were different from 360.
Good luck
