bulbs should be able to take that.... I am betting a bad ground. Looks like the ground is on the drivers side, somewhere below the reservoir for the washer fluid. Have a look. Also check the connectors at the bulb.
Yes, cleaning them with alcohol is recommended if you think you accidentally touched the bulb.
Because I can't know that the envelope wasn't contaminated in the supply chain, I always wipe down and air dry new lamps and then take great care that the envelopes never touch anything again. It's quick and easy enough, and a lot cheaper than finding out the hard way. Especially if you like to use spendy lamps.

If vibration is getting you, it's probably in the wiring rather than in the lamp itself. That said: If the beam seems to bounce more than the truck does something's loose and transferring mechanical shock to the lamps, which would cause premature failure. If that's not happening, it's probably not vibration causing those failures and is more likely electrical.
One or more open diodes in the alternator's rectifier would cause spiky output from the alternator, and could be the culprit. Abnormally high voltage output from the alternator could do it, too. I'd still be thinking wiring first, though.
It seems like every month or two i burn out a headlight(usually the pass side). Any ideas on why? I do drive with my headlights on a lot and drive on rough gravel roads daily. Could this be a cause? I will eventually be going with clear headlights and HID's and don't want this to happen with HID's

I'd start a new thread that's a little more specific rather than posting on one nearly 10 years old. Nothing wrong with old, I am.
There may be newer information that can help you. I had an '88 Chevy that ate bulbs like candy. Headlight, tail light, it made no difference. A week before it got totaled by a Deer I found a ground issue with the voltage regulator and the lights didn't pulse at idle. I guess it was fixed as it had pulsed since day one. Bambi didn't fare very well either. The police report said I was doing 55. I may have been going a wee more sprightly than that.
