Ya, I think that's what he means. With 4.56's and 35's, I can still cruise down the interstate at 70-75mph without being at ridiculous RPM's. If I had 4.88's that would probably be a little higher rpm. Not sure that would really make that much of a mileage difference (since your talking about a lifted truck with 35's to begin with), but it might make a little difference I suppose - depends on how often you drive those speeds too.

I work with a guy who has a lifted Wrangler with 33's, and he has 4.88's in it. He drives the interstate everyday too. Says he usually only maxes out at 65 mph though, otherwise his rpms are too high. From a standing start though, that thing has a ton of power. 33's and 4.88's are ridiculous for low speed pulling power.

Yep, that is basically it, only trouble is, you are also going to need to replace the carrier in the front diff, as those gears won't fit. You could call them, and see if you can substitute thick gears for the front, then you wouldn't need to replace the carrier.

Can you go up to 4.56 with thick gears? I had a thick gear with my 4.10's but changed the carrier when I went to 4.56

Spencer, now is a good time to think about putting a limited slip or a locker in too. Way easier to do it now with a gear swap. I run an Auburn limited slip and I like it. There are a few others that are good to though. For a locker, Detroit is always a solid way to go.
I wish someone made an electric or air locker for the 9.25.

Not sure if the thick 4.56 will fit on the 3.55 carrier..... That would be a question to ask the vendor......

Silver: Do you have a LSD or some such in the front of yours?

Not to be dumb or anything but what does a limited slip or locker do that the stock setup does not?

LSD will attempt to send power to both wheels when under power. (some are better than others at this.....) Locker WILL send power to both wheels under power. Standard open differential will send power to the wheel with the LEAST traction.
