Default Tranny??? Anybody know???

OK i have a 2003 Dodge ram 1500 4x4 but its got a 5.9 360 in it.
The transmission wont shift until i let off the gas does anyone know how to fix this or what can be done?????????

Is that a 46RE trans?

If it has the 5.9 360 V8, it has a 46RE transmission.

hows your fluid level?

must check wile running in neutral to get an accurate reading

Everything I am finding says 46RFE in the 03 models.......

My info shows this rig to have the 46RE type unit....On the drivers side of transmission just to the rear of the shift linkage is an electrical connector ( 8 pin)....Unplug that connector......with it unplugged, test drive the vehicle by starting off in manual low,then go to manual second gear, then finally drive position.....You should have those gears manually, if you do, you could have some speed signal issue or a faulty governor pressure sensor located on valve body....now if you do not have those gears manually, you know the problem is inside transmission,possibly a faulty governor pressure solenoid or a mechanical problem with the band or servo....

governor pressure solenoid and sensor is bad. replace them and adjust the bands while you are there. i just did this and mine works great now.
