Default Aftermarket Tranny Q's

I am thinking of getting a nice strong transmission that I won't have to worry about. I am probably going to beef my motor up in the near future and want something that will withstand the extra power. I've heard people talk about ?bullet proof? transmissions I think. Just wanting to see what are some good ones to look at. thanks

PATC Mega Viper..... big bucks though.

If you just wanted to rebuild yours, on page six of montec's trans thread, (in the FAQ section now) there is a list of parts he suggested for a member that regularly hauled a seven thousand pound trailer. Go with that list, and you should be golden. (just parts came to north of a thousand bucks....)

I think that's what I was just looking at. haha. Is this it? http://www.transmissioncenter.net/dodge.htm
If I didn't do this I was considering a 5-speed conversion. Any price difference between the viper and that you think?

You could probably do the conversion cheaper...... depending on where you got the parts from.... Just depends on what ya want.

PCM, wiring harness, pedals, trans, whack-a-hole for the shifter.... clutch p-plate, t/o bearing.... and the hydraulics for it all....

I don't know if you can reflash an automatic PCM to operate with a manual...... best bet is to get a donor truck, that you can cob all the parts off of.

ok what about the auto column shifter? can you remove it without getting a new steering column? I really want a stick but its starting to seem not practical. I might try to just beef my auto up.
