Default 96 v 10 2wheel/vs4wheel diference

Have a 99 1500 4wd and ran across a 96 v10 auto 2wd. Is there any difference in the 2w vs 4w transmissions. in other words will this 96 2wd v10 and tranny be a candidate for a swap into my truck.

no.
2wd and 4wd have different tailhousing/output shafts that are not easily swapped.
also the 1500 46re/rh is different from the V10/2500 47re/rh.
and also any pre-98 probably? won't fit the electrical part of your 99. i'm not sure about this but beware. you can search in MonteC's thread and others for interchange info.

why are you looking for a v10 tranny if you have a half ton?
your front suspension wont be able to hold the weight of the 8.0l, and the torque would probably twist your frame rails.
