Default What Oil to Use?

Just wondering what type/brand of oil you guys would recommend using in a higher-mileage 97 Ram with the 3.9L V6 engine. Truck has 177 000kms (110 000 miles). I've owned the truck for 4 months and haven't done it yet, so figure it is more than overdue. Any recommendations are appreciated.

I switched mine over valvoline full synthetic. It seems to run cleaner.

In the FAQ section, there is a whole thread about the various oils the 2nd gen crowds use. Go give that a read.

Most likely the motor is worn so I would use regular conventional oil, however my favorite is Mobil One Fully Synthetic 10W-30, I would use the High Mileage version if you are thinking of changing over to full synthetic.

It doesnt matter. Just stick whatever 10W-30 is on sale. If you have the money to buy synthetic, use it. Change it every 3-5,000 miles and get a good filter. A good filter is what really matters. Baldwin, NAPA Gold, WIX, or Donaldson filters are the best.
