Default valve covers and cold air intake

i have a leaking valve cover gasket and was thinking i would just change the valve covers to the mopar black or eldelbrook chrome ones. also thinking about a cold air intake or a 14x3 round mopar black or eldelbrock chrome air cleaner.

comments on each please.

hey at least it aint a tranny question! LOL

I see you are from Douglasville, I was there few hours ago.

Personally, I like the VC Mopar has to offer. They look great. Not to much of a fan of chrome VC. I would go with the Mopar round 14x3 intake cleaner.

I like the chrome ones, with red/bleu spark plug wires and once the engine is cleaned and all spiffy it looks really nice. However you would have to keep cleaning the chrome valve covers because like all shiny things they show every little spec of dirt or smudge.

I would try to find some valve covers that say Magnum on them.. Now those are cool, the word magnum gives me a boner

If I thought I might be going anywhere near water or mud, I'd avoid the 14x3. I had a bit of water get past one once and it convinced one of my pistons to fall apart.

Cold air is better anyway IMO. I never understood why anyone would go with a air intake like that round one. Your just sucking in the hot air from your engine back into your engine. The stock box IMO would be better then that, i mean i can see why it could be better for more air flow because it eliminates the long tube but still..

Hell i dont even see how those special cold air intakes people put on there engines even do anything over the stock box. Its still a long tube, its still got a filter on it, and its further inside the engine with no tube getting air from the outside like the box does.. Not only that but because its sitting on the inside all the dirt and dust, and oil from the engine is getting all over it. The box is closed

I dunno thats just what im see'ing.

Yea those valve covers look nice thats the magnum one i was talking about. However now that i think about the shiny alluminum one looks better then the black one. The shiny one is the one i would pick if it were me. It would show better IMO

The air temp is roughly the same when its in the combustion chamber anyway. Why bother with a $300 plastic tube and a crappy K&N filter when you can have something that looks as good as this?

If you go with the Mopar cast Vc's you will need to add these parts to your list.

P5007620 chrome bolt set for die cast aluminum valve covers 32.00
P5249642 cast valve cover grommet set 7.00
