I have a 97 ram 2500 4x4 with the dana 60 front and rear. I have a open diff and I HATE IT. Anyhow, i was just out with some of my hardcore jeep off road buddies, and they were telling me about this spartan locker. Its inexpensive, easy to install, and i will get all the benifits of a locker. I want to do this to the rear. Personally, this sounds to good to be true. I was curious if anyone knew anything about them, positives, negitives, people who have them opinions, or anything. I want both my rear tires to spin, but i don't want my tires to get eaten up in 4,000 miles either. Here is a link to the product.

Also, how can i tell if I have 30 or 35 spline axles. Thanks for any input!

 

Fair number of companies make that style of locker, some are better than others, and all are fairly close in price.

To find out the spline count on your axle, you can get all the numbers off of the axle, and then use dana's decoder..... or, yank an axle, and count 'em. (take off the bolts on the end of the axle, and then just pull it out. don't even have to jack up the truck.)

 

They've been selling Spartans on Pirate for a while now and so far everything about them has been positive, it appears like they have a couple things going for them over other lunchbox lockers.

My limited searching says the rear is 35 spline and the front is 32 spline. Double check yourself before ordering.
