well the other day my tranny was acting kinda weird and then the check engine light popped on.

so i stopped by autozone on the way home and had them scan my computer, got a p1756 code.

the guy behind the counter had no idea what the code meant, so i looked it up when i got home, and it was something about to much pressure in the tranny solenoid

ok so now yall are up to date.

now my question is ive searched around and found the conversion sensor kit for the tranny.

what all do i need to buy before i drop my tranny pan? and do yall recall how much each part was? the best/cheapest place to buy from?

First things first: The problem will most likely be solved by the governor transducer and solenoid. Not certainly, but most likely. They're failure prone parts and most often implicated in that code.

The Dodge-to-GM upgrade is well worth doing. I'd buy from PATC because I like the hell out of those folks out there in Bossier City and think it important to buy from good folks doing good work.

For the deeper pan I recommend the Derale part. Add in the filter extension to keep the pump pickup submerged in that deeper fluid. See PATC for those parts.

For the sensor and gauge, don't see PATC. Their gauge is delineated much higher than you ever want to see your transmission get. Find something that starts to deflect around 100 degrees and pegs at around 300. I like my AutoMeter but the brand is not really all that relevant. Find one you like that hits in that range.

For the fluid: Valvoline ATF+4 is what I use. Pick the ATF+4 from the brand you trust and go with it.

 

If you go with a deep trans pan, it will take more than 5 quarts. I got a double deep pan from mag-hytec and it took 11 quarts to fill it back up, it also included the filter and gasket. It was $280 bucks.

Around here I found Meijer had the cheapest Valvoline ATF+4 for $4.89 a quart.

Also replace the transducer, about $50 bucks at the dealership.

Since the pan is off adjust the bands, front band required a torx bit. I think it was a T-20 and the rear required a 5/16 eight point socket. You'll need and inch/pound torque wrench also to adjust 'em and tighten the pan to specs.

 

yeah i really dont know all that much about the bands and would rather not mess them.
it took alot just to make myself think about dropping the pan and replacing parts. lol

i am mechanically inclined but theres certain things im weary of.

are there any little things like sensors or solenoids im forgetting?
