I have a 94 1500 project going on,, I want to raise it up a little bit,, I have 33" tires on it now but the rub,,, I have 3" blocks for the rear end... the front is where my question lays... Do I want to use 3" spaces in the front or should I do something else? I want the truck to set level and I dont want to have 500 bucks in just a 3" lift... so should I maybe go 3.5" or maybe 4" spacers???? If I go that high are my control arms going to be long enough or am I going to have to get new ones?? any info on this would be great.... thanks

 

This must be lift question week lol...If you have 3" blocks for the rear then you would need 4" spacers for the front, since the front end of 2nd gens typicaly sit about an inch lower than the rear, to level the truck up you need an inch taller for the front. I'm doing 3" front 2" rear myself over the weekend, and hoping I dont have to buy control arms, I have 33's on my truck and plan to keep them for awhile but 35's will clear with the correct BS on the wheels which im buying to!! At 3" of lift you should use longer control arms, sway bar relocation bracket, drop pitman arm and track bar relocation brackets. You can get away without using them but your geometry is going to be messed up and I wouldn't recommend it.

My question is where do they rub. Lifting a truck doesn't always clear up rubbing issues...

When you add lift to the front axle of your truck you change the geometry of the control arms and track bar. This moves the axle backwards in the wheel well and uncenters it under the frame. A good rule of thumb is about 3/4" in movement for every 2 inches of lift.
Most rams can run a 33inch tire on factory rims without clearance problems. Many can run a 2 inch spacer and still clear the arms at full lock. Some don't, but I wonder if installing or adjusting thier steering stops would fix that.
If you want the truck "level" I would use a 2 inch front spacer. Nothing in the rear. Your truck should have enough slack in it to reset the caster.

the tires were on the truck when i bought it and they are on the factory wheels.... they rub on the fenders when the wheels are turned all the way to either side...
