My Truck does something very similar. Tonight, I was in maybe 8" of dry snow (which fell as fluffy snow over the last couple days and it got really cold so the snow wasn't too fluffy anymore). My truck shook violently as it tried to obtain traction. I switched it to 4Lo (from 4Hi) which helped a lot but as i got going again it would just start shaking again. It was shaking so bad i could see my hood wobbling around like it was about to pop open. I wasn't going to loose momentum and get stuck, so i just slowed down a little until i was out of the snow. I was maybe going like 8mph.

I have 4.10 gears, 285/70/17s, and a LSD. After this situation, My rear drums roared while trying to stop until they warmed up a little.

Sounds like some of our trucks just don't like deep snow!! Mine was garage kept for it's first 86k miles, so it HATES the white fluffy stuff!

Had to 4wd quite a bit today. It only shook on me once. Glad to see it's pretty common, and not something to worry about... at the moment. lol

my guess is its the jerking that comes from applying power when in a slick situation if its what i am thinking of it happens in the dunes all the time and i accept it as normal

Default Deep snow jumping

I have 2 Dodge trucks one half ton and one 3/4ton. In the past I have had many Dodge trucks and I also drive and additional 3/4 ton dodge for work. All of them jump in the deep snow I thought it was inherent of 4x4 trucks. I also have a 2003 Chevrolet Blazer The other day I drove the blazer into some really deep snow to test it. My Blazer doesn’t jump where my dodge always jumps. I ask the dealer the other day they said it was due to the locking diff. I am not sure if that is true but I work with 12 people who all drive Dodge for work and they all jump. Also all of these people claim their personal Chevy's and Fords don’t do this. Good question I would like an honest answer from Dodge and a Fix for the issue.

This just sound like a traction problem with all the stories. I never had a weird noise but when Id play in the mud the tires of course would lose traction and my truck would jump around and shake until I slowed the speed.

I also tested my truck in the snow and it did the same thing as in mud. I dont mind it. I mean she crawled outta both so why worry.

Don't know if the solid front axle makes any difference or not. But especially for those with the LSD the lack of traction makes sense as a cause. If you don't like it, sounds like you buy lockers.
