Default gears

What gears are you guys running with 35 in tires. I heard 4.10 and 4.56 are good. I want to be able to let off the brakes and tap the gas and go. not rev it to like 3000 before. I need you imput. i've never done gears before.

I agree. I have 33" tires, and 4.11's. For 35" tire, you would want at least a 4.56 to get the type of acceleration you are requesting. Here is a chart that shows the best gear for specific tire heights:

I believe that 4.56 gears would be a wise choice with 35's. It is a middle of the road selection for gearing, 4.88's or 5.13's are actually recommended for more off-roading vehicles, but if you drive yours on the street alot, 4.11's are fine. A 4.56 will bring your vehicle slightly above the stock 3.55 gearing it came with. Just remember you have to change out 2 sets (front and rear) and should cost you around 1000-1200 parts and labor, including the carrier for the Dana 44 that requires replacement. As for the locker, just remember that you will go through tires like crazy and the clicking and tire chirping can become annoying for some people. Hope this helps.

That's why it's best to go with an Electronic locker (or an ARB). That way you can have open differentials on the street, and locked offroad when you need them I've never trusted the auto locking differentials. They always seem to lock up right when you don't want them to. [:@]

dam that sucks it would cost that much. Im going to put them in my self to save some money. I really dont want to break 500 on gears if i dont have to. as for the locker i feel the same way as you do. i dont ever like to trust things with a mind of there own.
