Default can I make my 2wd into a 4wd?

so, I have a 2001 ram with a 5.2l engine. If I can find a donor 4x4 at the pick a part, is it worth doing this swap?
If it is possible, what would I need to replace? Can I use some of my current equipment? Transmission (or do I have to replace the tranny/transfer box as a unit?), rear axle, rear driveshaft, etc...

Set aside a reasonable amount of money to do the swap, then sell your 2WD, add the proceeds to the first pile, and buy a 4WD.

in the amount of money you spend to do the swap, you could buy a 4x4 that will run correctly

+2. Its cheaper to sell the 4x2 and buy a 4x4, then it is to upgrade a 4x2 to a 4x4.

^^ what they said. you can find a nice 4wd for under $5k.
a swap would include the transmission/t-case as a complete unit, the entire front axle including steering and suspension. its just not worth it.

Why the rush? Just getting the parts will take weeks. You should use the money it would cost you and buy 2 or 3 real 4x4 Daks.
