Default transfer case info

I have a 97 2500 4x4. It is in the transmission shop for the transfer case. He is wanting 800.00 for putting new in a new fork and he sad a couple of bands. I didn't know the transfer case had bands in it. Can someone let me know if he is right or full of it. Thanks

The transfer case has no bands. It's chain-driven. Maybe he's going into the transmission, too?

I new it didn't also I called him back and he said he said the bearings he is replacing. What said he was putting all new bearings and new chain and fork for around 800 or less. Is this a fare price or is it too high. He also said that my front diff was locked in so it looks like more problems.

Seems kinda high to me....... considering you can get master rebuild kits, with ALL the bearings and seals, for around 250, or less..... For not much more, you could get a new transfer case......
