It would be easy to drop the pan and clean it prior to sale to give the impression that the tranny had been rebuilt.

Does the check engine light come on, or the O/D off light?

If it's check engine: take it to orielly's (autozone, advance, whatever) and get the code read (free), then post it here so people will have a better idea of whats going on.

If it's O/D off: I've heard of situations similar to this where that light will come on indicating something wrong with the tranny/pcm match-up (such as putting a 42rh where a 42re should go, or vice versa).

As for the tv cable, it's a dealer only part (cost me $50 when mine snapped)

I usually try to abstain from being a grammar **** on the internet, but a few more periods/commas (in the right places) and separating your thoughts/questions into different paragraphs would tremendously help in getting your point across. I had to reread your post 3 times to fully understand what was going on. Slow down and think about what you're typing.

Oh yeah, and what the hell do you mean by temp O/D?

The OD will turn off if the tranny is overheating.

Didn't know that, but it is another likely possibility (wouldn't trans temp light come on too though?). If this is the case it's likely due to a clogged check valve.

The temp light should go on if it is truly overheating. Anything is possible with these thing though. The Gov. Pressure Switch/Transducer would be my next guess. Bottom line is, it needs to be put a scanner capable of monitoring the tranny.

Overdrive is disabled at around 240 degrees, Trans Temp light comes on at 260. Could be you're hovering in the middle there, which ain't good at all.

Hi Im sorry for the gramer Im not very good at it. As for the trans I dont think that the person I got it from lied. He had a lot of service records and the truck was nice minus the wreck damage all the fluid that was in it converter ect. was clean. The trans is a 42RE got the number at pan rail,no check engine lights or codes, have not seen any kind of trans temp light checkvalve has been removed. "od temp" When the trans. temp gets above min. temp as to were it would shift in OD. dash light comes on. What type of scanner would I need to get?
Does anyone know how you test od solenoid. Thanks {Im trying to learn how to navigate this site}
