Have you been through the mud lately?
If you get into that black sticky/stinky mud then it'll put off a smell from cooking on the exhaust.

You've got a blown intake manifold gasket.

What makes you think that?

Anyway I'd started another thread about my A/C Compressor or just the clutch (we didn't figure out which) seizing. We replaced the compressor with a bypass pulley and when we released the ra-134a crap I realized that smell was really similar to the smell. So we are actually thinking the smell had a lot to do with the compressor going out.

Now the smell is 100% gone.

Is there a thread with the all of the indications for a blown plenum? Because I don't have the smoking problem it seems like is a big indicator.

I burned oil like is was going out of style, but, rarely saw the cloud. (which rather surprised me considering I was going thru three quarts every 150 miles or so...)

Easiest way is to look down the throttle body, see if you can see anything. Another sure indicator would be to disable the PCV system, (plug the breather inlet, and the PCV port) take off the oil cap, and start the engine. If you still have vacuum at the oil fill hole, you have a blown plenum.
