I own a 1996 dodge ram 5.2 4x4 it needs a new computer got a chance too get one out of a 2001 5.2 dodge ram 2 wheel drive both vehicles are automatics will it work ...Thank you ...

no that computer won't work. Your truck is a 96 OBDI computer, and the 01 is OBDII. Search ebay for a used OBI computer or goto the junk yard ....you need 96 or OLDER

96 is OBDII as well, just sorta 'different'. You need a computer out of another 96, possibly 97, with the same engine/trans that you have.
