Default Post Cat Sensor

A buddy of mine has an 01 1500 and wants to gut his cat, but he has an O2 sensor after his cat. What does he have to do so that he doesnt get a CEL? Thanks

That's the whole idea behind it. It fools the sensor into think the cat is still there...

Dont gut the cat it does nothing for the truck. Not to mention the sound is awful. If its plugged just buy a new one.

Stock cat does not flow nearly as well as aftermarket "high flow" cats. The open pipe flows MUCH better than a clogged cat...... Just gutting the cat would be an improvement over stock, how much of one? Probably not much. (if it were working as advertised anyway.....)

I agree that the stock cats are junk. But once all the crap in mine finaly came loose. MPG's dropped 10 fold the 02 sensor burnt out and it lost a lot of power. Its better just to replace the cat with a hiflow Magnaflow. Thats what I did and I am only into it $100 cost of cat and cost to install.
