Guess My Heater Core's Leaking
how did you do it without disconnecting the ac hoses, i have it all apart and im trying to pull the box but its getting caught up and the only thing still connected id the ac lines, and i cant get it pullled out far enough to get anything out.
anybody have any tips on getting it off without disconnecting the ac lines? thats all thats holding it from pulling out, and i can almost get the core out by lifting up but not quit. i tried to take all the screws off of the bottom of the box bt theres no way i can put them all back on without taking the whole box off. sorry if this makes no sense. it looks like theres a core or somethig that the ac lines go into right next to the heater core..both in the duct box.
you have to kinda tug on the a/c lines a bit. after i got it out more i took my air cutoff and cut the heater core lines off near the heater core and it will come right out. then just slip the new one into place.
ok i thought about cutting them but wasnt sure if i could get the new one in if i had to cut the old onyes out.ill have to try that tomorrow cuz its gettin dark now, man i hope i can put all these screws back where they go.!.
oh one more thing, about the foam gasket or whatever materiak it is that is on either side of the heater core, and in the fire wall where the hoses come in, should i replace those? mine got kinda jacked up with me tuggin on it. i dont see the gaskets to buy at autozone or kragen.
alright just didnt know, thank you for all the help and i might ask ya another question when i put it back together...some brackets fell when i dropped the steering and im not sure where they came from but ill try to figure it out before i bug anyone..thanks
Hi the hector core can be changed WITH OUT removing the heater box and with out discharging the A/C system.
Trust me I did it took about 2 hours.
