If you open the hood and take the little plastic piece off the top you can see down behind your bumper. There are like 15 little clips you press from behind to remove the whole thing. You also might have to remove the bumper, that's what I did.
I think this should work. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong

I think if you had either a place you trust, or you trust yourself enough, i bet you could tape off the outsides, then put some newspaper behind it, and you could probably do it yourself if you wanted to.

It would be nice to remove the piece from the bumper if you can to reduce the masking you would have to do along with eliminating the chance of overspray.

After that you should use a wax and grease remover after washing the part and allowing it to dry throughly. wet the panel down with a rag soaked in wax and grease remover, dry it of with a clean dry rag.

Allow it to dry again then take a grey scotch-brite pad( not the red because it will be too aggressive), try and make sure that you do a thorough job, don't forget to get any corners good.

Clean it off again with the wax and grease remover again, allow it to dry.

Now this is where it can get strange. Are you looking to get a matte finish off of it or are you painting it to match your trucks paint and shine.

If your just looking to paint it in a matte/ or even semi gloss black I have actually used a dye to get this done with good results. Most jobbers can mix the dye right at the store. If your looking to match paint then you'll want the jobber to just mix it in the paints color. Either way Id suggest using an adhesion promoter. You may not have to, but I have always done it with any plastic I have painted. It just helps the paint stick to the plastic.

Either way use light coats to avoid running the paint.

I hope this helps you out.

yeah i just used that rubberized under coating stuff, which came out black but dried almost brown, so i went over it with black spray paint. its starting to chip from all the massive bugs out lately, but still looks good.
i also soaked all the nuts and bouts in pb blaster and gave them a coat of black to match

That bottom piece looks pretty good in black. Wow, that's one big A$$ cow catcher on the front of that rig!
