Default Picture Request!!! Shift linkage for 1500

Like the thread title..

I have had my truck up for a long time.. Just got engine and transmission back in today.

Wanted to make sure I had the spring in the right spot on the linkage, and just double check, the FSM has a really shoddy picture.

Also if you are reading this, and have done the rear end.... how the heck do you get the side gears back in place? If you pushed one out installing the shafts??

Do I really have to pull the differential out to do that??

TIA...

Does it work? If so it's in the right place. There really isn't any other way to do the linkage. Just make sure the plastic clip on the arm coming off the transmission is intact. It's a little round pass through plastic clip IIRC. Mine popped out once and It felt like death going into and out of gear.

The spring ius for the TV cable no ? It hook's to the lever the cable is attached to and the other end goes to a small bracket held on with a bolt towards the front.

Thank You... I didn't have that piece on yet. I put it on today, and said "I bet the spring goes here...."

Thanks for confirming it...

I have the transmission all hooked back up, can't wait to see if my first ever rebuild was a success or a failure.. I just have to put the differential back together first.

I just realized that I lost the two Engine to Transmission struts...
I need to check and see if they ended up in our scrap pile..
I know I can test the truck without them, but I wouldn't drive it for long..
Also I need to replace 10 of my 20 studs, and rebuild the back brakes..
four hours to sunset, hope I can get it all done. At least its been in the 70's lately..Its been over a year since this thing was fired up...So I'm anxious.

Thanks for the picture Zman...

I've been living in Virginia forever lol we have snow and ice every year, roads are salted, and chemicles like crazy, hell the roads are white right now.. I just have my underside protected, and when i go to a carwash i get the underside washed, or i wash it myself. Today i washed the car in the 45 degree weather to get the salt off the body and the underside.

Here a picture of part of my underside i still have the original paint on it lol. See that salt all over it ? I wash it off so it doesnt rust.

Ok, I'll bite, what year is the truck and what did you use to "protect" the underside?
