Default Stock 98 Dodge 5.9 Need Help

Ok, so im sure im going to get crap for posting this but I want to know what i should do to my Dodge to improve power and the life of my truck. I just hit 125k and the only mod done to the engine is a K&N Filter in the stock filter housing. I bought this truck from an older gentlemen with 103k on it. I put a 3 inch lift with 33 inch MTs and a Flowmaster 40 Series. I have a little extra money from taxes and was wanting some input on what should i do for around $400 for more power. Oh and there is a small crack in my air filter housing so i was thinking of just buying a 14x3 Mopar Filter. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Park it!!! There are many things that you can do to increase the power such as; SCT Tuner, Hughes air gap, 1.7 roller rockers...the list goes on it just depends how fat you wallet is. Nothing really you can do to prolong the life of the truck except cross your fingers and pray. You really need to do a search before you post a VERY basic question link the one you did.

First: Make sure that the plenum is good and the maintenance is 100% up to date.

Second: SCT tuner from hemifever.

I hate to disappoint you, but I'm all out of crap to give people at the moment.

Hey on that note, checking the plenum is as easy as popping off the intake and peeping down through the throttle body looking for oil? I have to check my truck...I just bought it.

Yup, its that easy. There's a possibility it could be a bad PCV leaking that oil in there too. Plug the PCV Valve, then remove your oil cap and see if there's any vacuum at the opening. That tells you if there's a plenum issue.

But, most likely oil in the plenum = bad plenum.
