Bilstein vs. Rancho
I noticed in the faq section that there was a fairly even split between Rancho and Beistein shocks. I am trying to decide between the Rancho 5000, Rancho 9000 adjustable, and the Bilstein HD. The front has a 2" coil spacer and the rear is stock.
I do plow my driveway so the Rancho 9000 seems appealing - $300.
Maybe Rancho 5000 because I heard the adjustments of the 9000 does not hold up well to weather - $200.
Or the Bilsteins because I have heard people who try them never go back to anything else - $270.
Has anyone been running these for a while...I want something that will last a while. What do you think?

In that price range, buy whatever is cheapest. Unless you have adjustable valving (and I'm not talking about the chintzy **** that rancho has on some of their shocks), you won't have much return for your money in that price range of shock.
Buy what's cheap and carry on.

On a truck camper forum I frequent, dudes with a lot of weight in the bed pretty unuiversally agree on the Rancho 9000's winning over the Bilsttiens and I've not seen anyone say it the other way around. I'd probably buy them next for the back shocks but I don't know if they have any long enough for my truck.
It may be that on 2nd gen 24 hour forums (
) forums you'd see different opinions and on desert racing forum some third and completely unique popular favorite etc.
You really have to take into account for the way your going to use it cause the answers are going to be way different.

Had rancho 5000's in the rear of my 2wd truck and them things suck ***, got rid of them and went with doestch tech and the ride is so much better, bilsteins are great and you definantely get what you pay for with them. There on my dads truck, and it does great, and they hold up to towing without a problem

Had Monroe Gas Magnums on the truck, and the front was to soft. Replaced the fronts with Rancho 5000s, much stiffer/better. The Gas Magnums (or other semi-stiff cheaper shock) work well for the rears if you don't tow/haul much.
