2.5" Wide 2500 Leaf Springs
I was searching around on www.car-part.com and a couple local junk yards have 2.5" wide leaf springs that came off a 2500. They say they have 5 leafs (mine only has 3 leafs).
Will there be any advantages in going to these springs on my 1500? I regularly tow a Jeep Cherokee (roughly 3,300 pounds) and it squats the rear of my truck a bit more than I am comfortable with.
I have looked at the Helwig helper springs and the Firestone air bag setups, but I would rather not go that route.
I can get both side spring packs for $120.

I'm not sure what it would do by installing them on your 1500 but my Ram 2500 (as with most I 3/4 and 1T trucks) rides pretty rough without a load on the back. I would guess it would be at least as bad with yours.
To solve my extra weight requirements with my last truck (2004 Chevy 2500 4x4) I purchased the Air Lift airbags on Amazon (about $100 cheaper at the time) and they worked out great. Easy to install and you weren't constantly bouncing around when you don't have a load in the back. They were also great when I pulled a trailer from TX to SC last September. I drilled the valve stem holes in the rear bumper by the license plate for easy access.
Good luck.
