Default Airbag light with no code

96 1500 4x4 5.2 auto. Horn and cruise works. Bot local parts store and professional Dodge mechanic scanned it and found no code. Could it be a failed airbag control module? What else?

Might still be the clock spring.......

Need to be able to pull the codes. What scanners were them thar folks using??? They might not be capable of pulling air bag codes.

Well I trust the Dodge mechanic - he's my son in law. I'm going to try another airbag control module this weekend since that's the easiest thing to test. There's one at the local junkyard for $50. I'll try it right there so I can return it if that isn't it. The dealer said the part (4883876AA) is discontinued but there was one left in the country and would cost over $400.

I finally got around to trying another airbag control module. Nothing changed. So its either the only bad connection in the clock spring or I have to start tracing the circuit.

There is also another possibility. I am working on a 2004 Durango. No airbag problems were noted. However, when checking fuses, one was missing. I replaced it, and the airbag warning light came on according to the customer. She is bringing it back tonight for me to check. What I fear is that there is/was a problem and someone removed the fuse to quiet the 'squeek'. So, I fear that she may have been driving around with NO airbag in operation.
