Default Problem with downstream O2 sensor... need help please!

Hi, I recently bought a 2001 Dodge Ram. The check engine light came on so I started doing some research on this forum. I was able to get the P0138 code, which indicates a faulty downstream O2 sensor. Here is the problem:

When I went to remove the sensor I noticed that the plug from the sensor into the port on the wiring harness had become damaged. Not like somebody prying on them, more like they were exposed to extreme heat or possibly friction, and were fused together.

I haven't had a chance to take it to the dealer, but likely will Monday, unless someone has any ideas. I would be comfortable wiring the 2 pieces manually, but the wiring colors do not match on both ends, so I am not certain exactly which one goes where.

Does anyone have any experience with this, a diagram possibly, or would anyone be willing to inspect their vehicle if it is similar to mine? Here are the specs:

2001 Dodge Ram 1500, 4x4, 5.9L engine, auto transmission...

If I have overlooked any important details, or if someone would like me to take a picture, just let me know.

Thanks in advance for the consideration. I can tell by some of the posts on this forum that this is a good place to be, and I am in good hands.

Justin

Welcome to DF.

Can you tell from the connectors which wires go where currently? You have a couple options.... grab the connectors from another truck in the scrap yard, buy them new..... (replace O2 sensor.... get a pigtail for the harness side...)

Don't take it to the dealer. They will charge you an arm, leg, half your soul, and first born male child to fix it, when you could probably spend less than 20 bucks, (not including the sensor) and do it yourself.

Thanks much. Do you know where they sell new harness pigtails online?
