Default Shifting Sequence for TC

How is everyone's shifting pattern for 4wd? I have been looking around at other trucks and I have seen two kinds now. Mine is

FRONT OF TRUCK
4lo
N
4hi
2

Does this indicate a difference in transfer case? If so, what is the difference and why?

The NV231 transfer case (which is more than likely what you have) has over 29 variations. (this includes models for jeep, chevy, and fords as well.) Somewhere around 98-99, dodge went to the new shift pattern. Previously, it was 2Hi, 4Hi, N, 4Lo. (front to back.) No clue why they did that.....
