Default CEL Question

So I'm down in Iowa building mt new bumper(Pics to come)

Anyway on my way down my CEL light came on, I'm assuming its because i had non-ethanol in it for my last tank and since I got SCT it hasn't like that. ANyway fuels changed, and I was wanting to clear it, but i left my tuner in South Dakota.
Does removing the mattery then pressing the brake pedal work? and would this screw with the tunning on the computer?

naw man.. when you programmed w/ the SCT, you altered the base tables.. those don't change- it does minutely change for environmental differences when it closes loop and starts listening to the sensors, but the tables (which the SCT alters) doesn't change..

you can pull the negative cable for a few minutes and all should clear- unless your code reoccurs..

you may want to find out what that code is before you clear it though.. you can find it by doing the key trick (or at least I think you can on a '97- but it may have been '98 before that worked).

cycle the ignition on, off, on, off, on... then count the flashes of the CEL. It will flash the first number, slight pause, second number, longer pause, first number of next code.... etc.

Put the key in the ignition, turn it on-off-on-off-on. In a few seconds, the check engine light will flash a "code" to you. Each code is 2 digits long, and it flashes 55 (five flashes, pause, five flashes) to let you know its completed the scan. Search around here on DF to find out what each 2 digit code represents.

Search around here and someone else has probably explained it better than me.
