4x2 - Light Mudding?
I've been thinking about taking my 4x2 off-road this summer after I fix the suspension issues/plenum gasket. What kind of tires would be recommended? It needs new tires soon as the tread on the ones I have are sitting about a 6/32, I've been thinking about Nitto Terra Grapplers, since they are relatively low cost, and supposedly decent on the trails/street. What do you all think?
My budget for tires will be around $600, mounted & balanced. I might stick with the 265/70/16 I have on there, but I will more than likely go back to the stock size of 245/75/16 since the larger tires seem to bog the truck more than the stock ones did.

any good luggy mudgrips and some weight in the back and you're set to go. tires are everything. All terrains are fine for dry dirt, but you need mud grips to dig and clear when in deep mud.
if you want it to really shine in slippery mud, consider a powertrax noslip. its a do it yourself lunchbox locker for about $400.

i have a 2wd that i use to pull my mud truck to the trail with. but i have had to go get my mud rig a few times from the trail and i had a set of 265/75/16 truxs mud tires from iterco they were good in the mud but extremely loud on the road and didnt last but around 30xxx miles. Now i run a set of mickey thompson mtz they are great on and off road not stupid loud getting good wear out of them. overall a great tire. i have also heard very good things about the general tire also.

I run the maxxis buckshots and I have yet to "need" 4wd. I'll lock it in just to get a even coat of mud on the truck lol. I just keep them spinning and they clear out very well. I drove off in a field by my house and the mud was a little more than half way up my 35's and it pulled right through. Best thing though they are pretty cheap. I found them for 185 a tire for a 315 75 16 but I went to a 15" rim and got 35 12.5 15's for 640 a set. Another thing to think about is when your in the mud you want a wider tire to help you "float" and not just dig a big hole. The 265 70 is about the same height as the 245 70 but wider.
