Default Edelbrock Shocks

Swapped on new shocks yesterday. We chose the Edelbrock IAS Performer shocks. Our HD springs are still stiff, but the shocks are better than the previous stockers. Ordered them thru 4WheelParts on one fo their 'free shipping' weekends. Here's some pics...

Looks nice.

Why is the rubber boot on the bottom. I seem to recall the rubber boot should be on the top so it stays out of the way of rocks and such. I think the ranchos have the boot on the top.

Correct me if im wrong

O

That would explain it.

Now I must ask why he put the rubber boot on the bottom?

I would reverse it. Less chance to damage the higher you go.

I'm not for boots myself, but they were there, and the shocks say "This side up" on them. The boots cover the stem portion that exposes itself as it extends.

That's odd, because the stock shock even has the stem on the top. I just finish installing my Rancho's this weekend. There were no instructions with them at all, so I just put the stem up like the stock shock was.
I think you should turn them around too.

They might be made to be installed that way but I just went out and looked at my shocks and the lower part (where your rubber is) has a ton of rock chips and nicks in it. I just know that something is going to tear that boot. Maybe you can call them and ask them if you could flip it. If not give me the number and let me tell them they are stupid for making the boot on the bottom. I know for a fact I have had sticks stuck in the axle from 4 wheeling.

Anyhow Im glad you posted this up for us all to see

goodluck
