You can get the K&N element right from summit too. I forget the part number tho.

K&N part number 1530 or 1535 are the only ones that fit it, but they are not a perfect fit. The Mopar takes a 12.75" filter. K&N makes the two I mentioned which are both 12.50", or they also make a 13". The 13" doesn't fit. There are several threads all about this, including the K&N FIPK No More thread. Try a search.

By the way, I used to run a K&N, and I now run a paper filter in it. It fits so much better (Purolator makes the filter it comes with, and replacement filters that fit perfectly), filters better, and still provides better airflow then the stock setup.

Stay away from K&N filters if you want your engine to last.

Just curious, but on what basis is this claim made? I run a K&N filter with the stock airbox and really see no issues with it.

Has there been some research done recently that questions their filtering ability or longevity?

Thanks!
Dave

There are a few good studies that have been posted on-line that show the comparison of various types of air filters. I think the best one is the Spicer test (google it and enjoy the read). It might make you decide not to use K&N anymore.

I quit using it when I compared just how much dust/dirt was being allowed through. If you clean you clean your throttlebody often like I do, the difference between a paper filter and a K&N is very noticeable by the buildup on the TB.

I wouldn't run a K&N on an offroad vehicle without a precharger sock. I used to run them on my MX bikes all the time in the sand. On the street there will be no issues with a k&n filter! Back in the day people used to just run velocity stacks with no filter at all! As long as you clean and oil the filter properly per the instructions you will have no issues.
