Default parking lights, running lights and dash lights dont work

My dash lights do not work, neither do my running/tail lights. i checked the fuses and they are not blown. the headlights work, and the cab light works on/off with the dimmer switch. does anyone know what could be the cause of this or where to look exactly? not sure if it would be the switch itself or not. any help would be appreciated.

I would replace the headlight switch. Chances are either the circuit traces inside the switch are toast or the wiring leading from the switch has melted. Those parts are notoriously flawed. Replace it with a dealer part.

how hard is it to replace that switch?
also, was just under the truck, and the trailer light plug was MELTED. the top of it was melted and i could see remains of wires through the burnt plstic/ruber. i cut it off and wrapped the wire with electrical tape, but that didnt fix the problem. (i recently had put one of those hitch brake light covers in my hitch)

The switch is not hard to replace, basically you just pull off the dash bezel and the switch is held in by 3 screws. Melted trailer plugs sounds like a the could the cause of the problem. I ran into a similar problem back about a year ago.

You sure you checked the fuses under the hood? I had the same problem and it was that parking light fuse under there. Just my .02

That fuse was it! it was blown. Thanks for telling me to check those, i didnt even think about it. im pretty sure that melted trailor plug was the cause. not sure why it melted. Its actually the plug/wires from one of the light strips that u put under the tailgate. i just took it off because my tailgate wouldnt open with it on/nor would i be able to get the spare tire down; so i just use the wires for the trailer plug, and just recently the brake light hitch cover. one of those is probably the culprit for the blown fuse. but thanks again guys.

I am having the same issue - I changed the fuse and it fixed the problem, but the fuse blew again right away. I tried one more time and it blew again within about 5 seconds. Any clue as to why? Thanks for your help!

You still have a short somewhere. Good luck tracing it down. Look at all the wires from that burnt hitch connection & see if insulation burned off farther away from the plug where you may not have looked yet. Failing that, add fresh blinker fluid.
