99 Ram 2500 V10 questions.
Hey, I have a 99 Ram 2500 Sport with an 8L V10 that I am selling. While I know a fair bit about vehicles I had a potential buyer ask me some questions that i couldnt answer even when I checked the owners manual. I was hoping someone on here would know the answers. He is wondering if the truck has ABS and i know there is an ABS light but I have never felt it really kick in even in winter. Also he was wondering the gearing in the differential (possibly a 4.10?) and the biggest one I couldnt answer was if it is a LSD. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
The easiest way to figure those things out would be to get a build sheet from Chrystler. If you have an ABS light then you should have ABS. Most of our trucks came with 3.55 gears, but yours could be different. Idk about the LSD, someone else will have to answer that part.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong,
Someone correct me if I'm wrong,
Yes get a build sheet Its FREE (usually)
just go to dealer and bring your VIN..
You have ABS but is it 2 or 4 wheel? look by either of your front wheels and follow the brake line down to the caliper, there will be a wire running down to the hub assembly. If you don't have this wire its 2 wheel ABS. I would say you have 2WAL because if you had the 4WAL you would feel it work, the 2WAL on these suck.
Probably have 3.55, it seems all the V-10s on here came with them, though a P/O could have changed them.
You will have a Dana 60 axle in the front.
Dana 70 axle in the back unless you have a dually, then it's a Dana 80
Most likely you got LSD also, build sheet will say Anti-spin differential.

Check your rear diff cover for metal tags. I don't know what mine says off the top of my head, but look for something along the lines of 3L55 or 4L10 or perhaps without the L... that's how Ford does it anyway. I've been searching for parts for a Ranger rear end. One tag should tell you what ratio and if you need the limited slip additive.
You might also look for a sticker. This is apparently on a 99 Durango.
