Default Alternator Clacking

I have been having a squeaking noise from the front of my truck for quite a while now. I took the belt off and cranked her up and no noise. I put a new idler pulley and and new tensioner arm and pulley on and the squeaking persisted. The noise has progressively gotten worse and has now turned into a metal on metal sound. I checked my alternator today and when turning it with no belt I can feel a distinct drag at one point. I suppose this is the bearing in the alternator locking up? What brand alternator do you all recommend? I'm thinking either the Bosch or Napa brand. Suggestions?

Get one with a lifetime warranty. If you plan on adding power hungry accessories to your truck, get one with a higher rated output than stock as well.

I bought ONE alternator for my firebird. I replaced it four times in the ten years I owned it.

I'm not sure if I have the 90 or 136 in my truck now, but if I do upgrade will I need to upgrade anything else? Fuses, relays, etc?

EDIT: My build sheet says it is a 117, so I am going to go w/ the Bosch 136. Bosch is about as good as it gets right?

Probably just the input fuse for the alt, in the PDC. (or would that be the output fuse? Too early in the morning for me....... )

You don't need to change anything except the generator itself.
