POR-15 (Paint Over Rust) and my entire truck?
I've been thinking about this for awhile. I've painted quite a few vehicles in my lifetime with plain old rustoleum (75% rustoleoum/25% thinner) and they usually come out very good. How would POR-15 do if I painted my entire truck with it in Satin Black? I'm talking frame, bed, cab, hood/fenders. I've been running this idea through my head quite awhile since POR-15 looks like it's almost bullet proof, and I am going for the "old school rat rod" murdered out look on the truck, I think it would look pretty good. Black rims, black frame/body, smoked cab clearance lights, smoked headlights/taillights, etc.
Anyone ever painted a Dodge Ram like this? Also, if I just used Rustoleum, how much paint do you think I'd need for this? My experience with painting trucks is with a Ford Ranger, and the rest is all old cars. I painted a General Lee look-alike for a friend who planned on using it for jumping, but that never happened since he said the paint turned out too nice. (I think it was Rustoleum Safety Orange, came out very close to the color of the General Lee once it was thinned out.)
What do you all think?

That would be crazy. Anyways POR-15 will fade if exposed to UV Rays.
MUST I PAINT OVER POR-15 TO MAKE IT LAST?
No, but POR-15 has an ultra-violet sensitivity and must be topcoated if continually exposed to sunlight. Once topcoated, POR-15 will remain effective for many years.
WILL THE SUN DESTROY MY POR-15 COATING IF I DON'T TOPCOAT IT?
If the surface is exposed to the sun for an extended amount of time, the UV rays will eventually break down the POR-15 and cause it to fail. That’s why we recommend you topcoat it.
I think this is the method you are speaking of:

It would be pretty sweet, a normal paint job usually uses 3-4 quarts of paint but i dunno if the por can be thinned out?

+1. When i used por 15 on my rear bumper it turned a rather ugly yellow. You need to paint a second coat of something on if you use it on your truck
