Default Newbies 5.9 still wont start.

Reposting to consolidate some info.
Van died, acted like it ran out of fuel.
Added 5 gallons, no start. Shot some starting fluid in the intake, no start.
Pulled the pre cat 02 sensor, no start. Replaced the crank position sensor, no start.

Things Ive done or checked.
Ive got 40 psi of fuel pressure at the fuel rail. The new in July rotor and cap look good. The rotor is spinning when I crank the key. Distributor hasnt moved. When I put my hand over the exhaust while the wifey cranks it it feels like its just blowing exhaust not sucking also. New in July spark plugs look perfect and I have spark at them. Have a nice blue 3/4" arc on the coil wire.

I get a slight sputter/backfire when I hold the throttle WFO and crank it over but thats it. Almost sounds like the timing is 180 out but I know this cant be.

Due to the fact that it wont fire at all with starting fluid and I have spark at the coil and plug I am pretty sure its got to a timing issue.
I can replace the cam position sensor but if that doesnt work Im stumped.

Its been down for 4 days now and im desperate. I dont really have the money to have it towed and fixed.

Any and all ideas at this point will be taken into consideration.

Do a compression test, or, better yet, a leakdown test. See what compression numbers look like.

Need info on the van in this thread as well. Year, mileage, etc.

As a quick check..... Pull the drivers side valve cover, and the distributor cap off. Roll the engine over until the rotor is pointing at the number one cylinder firing position. Take a gander at the valves on number one, are they both fully closed?

1995 5.9 with 67,000 miles

Also, it is throwing a code 5 5, which means "no code found"

Its a 95 2500 Conversion Van, 5.9 with less than 67,000 miles and I just did new heads, valves, springs, push rods, radiater, water pump, tensioner pully, hoses, sepintine belt, cap, rotor, plugs wires. Ive put close to 7,000 miles on it without a single problem. Until Now.

Thanx to all who replied. I think Ive got ot figured out.

The shaft down the center of the distributor has a hole drilled through it with a pin/bolt that holds a plastic bushing/collar in place. That shaft had snappeed at that pin/bolt and the shaft rotated 180 and caught again. Hard to explain but distributor was firing 180 out.

My new distributor will be here in the a.m. Back to work on Monday. Hopefully!!!
