Performance Robbing V-10
I used to drive a 65 Ford that was built to the nuts and would stand up nose to the air at 45 mph but you could smell the smell of "no emissions" or "unleaded fuel". Same smell as when you’re drivin down the road behind an old POS Chev or other. That is that leaded but not leaded smell because of the times.
What I'm talking more about is that "sulfur" smell. That **** is nasty and makes you look like the swamp scum with no avail! I don't wanna look, nor smell that garbage! An un-regulated smell is different and I'm fine with that.
I know I don't have a ram but did you say this was a built trany or a rebuilt trany or a stock original trany. I know everyone is talking about your exhaust but it actually sounds like a slipping/ worn trany may only be 4th gear maybe 3rd gear too. Sounds like 1st and 2nd gear may still be good and that would be why you accelerate okay enough but once you get to 3rd and 4th gear it falls down. Also at that RPM's you should be moving faster which is another reason I think your trany is slipping. Have you pulled the Trans dip stick and smelled/ felt the fluid?
Trans is built with an unknown shift kit 33+k ago. I had my personal favorite can we say "expensive" trans guy (check it out), only issue, I don't like the 1st/2nd shift which is kinda hard but the spring is all the way out. The only way to fix it is to replace the valve body with a "factory" body. I'd rather stay with a shift kit built for the Trans. The trans was built by "Gearheads" out of American Fork, Utah.
Anyway, I had my mechanic open it up and check it out with no other issues. The only issue was a burned Trans fluid, (that I found), and so I had it purged with FS fluids. I'm sure the Trans are in great condition.
I agree! The problem hear is; it only smelled like that when I disconnected and removed the O2 sensors, it has never done that before. What I am trying to figure out is, if I remove the muffler and replace it with a MagnaFlow 70 series and hollow out the CAT's, will it stink? In other words, can someone pick that up on inspection?
If you have an inspection, you may or may not pass the sniffer test. Just depends on how stringent they are.
A failing cat will stink like rotten eggs, because it is being inefficient. Its supposed to break down some of the products of combustion, into less offensive gases. When it starts to fail, a fair bit of the sulfur comes out as.... sulfur dioxide... which smells like.... rotten eggs. So, if the cat was clogging up, compromising efficiency, (chicken or the egg here...) getting the odor off the front of the partially clogged cat doesn't really come as a surprise.

Well here's some video. The first one is me getting on the freeway. I turned onto the on ramp at about 10mph and floored it until I had to stop because of a cop pulled over on the opposite side of the road.
The second video I shot is at a stop sign getting off the freeway on an off ramp. I turned the wheel and floored it. The roads are very course asphalt (slightly wet) but I turned the wheel and floored it. She broke the tires loose very little.

I do have a check engine light on for the EGR valve, so that could be a contributing factor for me, but I don't think the 99's have EGR, so probably not a factor for you. I've been putting off dealing with it because you have to remove the upper intake manifold to get to it.
Mine has the 3.55's with 31" tires and no engine mods that I'm aware of. I'm getting around 11 mpg and have no CEL showing. It may not launch like yours with the 4.10's, but it pulls right up through 50 to 80 smoothly with no loss of acceleration like the video shows.
If it were the cats being plugged, wouldn't it affect your pulling power off idle too? I kind of agree with 3rd and 4th gear slipping a little as in the videos it's pulling good through the first few shifts. FWIW.

My cat's are hollowed out and it smells no different than before.
Ok so I took my truck to work today and took the highway home (which is rare for me) anyway I pulled over on the side of the highway and let traffic clear a bit then floored it. Video below, I included yours Hydra for comparison.
Note I was at a standstill on the side of the highway and then floored it till I almost slammed into the cars that had passed me. I never made it to 4th.
3rd gear definitely has a longer range but I'm up beyond the 60MPH much quicker than yours.
Truck is near stock other than dual exhaust, one blown door speaker, some rust, and a bad heater core...LOL
oh its got 3.55s and 285 75 R16s
Hope this helps you.

Consitering she won't stink,
I got under there and cut the clamps and tryied to pull the piping apart starting with the tail pipe. I couldn't get them apart, to much freakin rust. I banged the **** out of the pipe and still no go. I think I'm going to have to cut the pipe in half with my sawzal and put in one of those band clamps. I dislike doing that because it would have the apperance of being played around with.
Anyway, so while I was under there I figured I'd beat the **** out of the CAT's with my 3 lbs sludge. Well, she sounded a bit different but little power difference off the start. Pulled up to the stop sign and gave her 3/4 throttle and when she shifted into 2nd that thing set me in the seat. In fact my 9 year old son said "wohhhh". Now that was fun! However, I haven't been able to get it to do that again as I think it plugged up again.
So again, how the hell did you guys get them apart?
