Default Trans cooler line problem

ok so my trans lines on my 99 dodge ram 1500 /w 5.9 were starting to leak. no biggy. bought some dorman replacement lines
624-304 return line
624-305 pressure line
pressure line went on without any problems.
But the return hose is being a pain in my @ss.
it will no clip on the return.

first one i bought had this problem so i tried to drill the hole a little deeper and screwed that hose up started leaking. o well 20 bucks down the drain.
bought another one. same problem will not click in to place.

its stopping short about 2 tenths of a inch short of clipping in to place. any info would be nice?
should i just suck it up and buy oem line?
or some how modify these to fit?

check to make sure there are no pre exsisting o-rings in there. take a small screwdriver and poke around

Try twisting it a bit while you insert it. If that fails, see if the parts store carries a different brand......
