NOOB question about rear gears
Hello all i just have a couple questions for those with exp...
01 5.9 magnum, stock except for SCT (Thanks a million to Suan), Exhaust..
truck is 2wd but id like to put a 3inch body lift and 305/75s on the truck for APPEARANCE.. However, im going to do as many mods to the truck for pure performance and acceleration as i can. EXAMPLE Hughes top end kit, HS 1.7's, 14x3, edelbrock shorty headers etc etc.
The only thing im not sure about is rear gear size.. Id like the best acceleration i can get with a 32 to 33 inch tire, and im not afraid to lose top end for them. Any ideas, suggestions on size, brand?

I drive about 30 miles round trip a day to work. when we go outta town we take my wifes tahoe so at 70mph i really could care less... i wanna get down a 1/4 mile track as quickly as possible in a truck i drive every day. call me selfish lol.
For what it's worth, I checked today as I drove in (because I get asked this alot). With 35" tires, 4.56 gears, at 75 mph, i'm doing about 2350-2400 rpm. So with 33" tires, you could expect another 200-400 rpm I would estimate.

Thanks for the info Silver, as far as a performance(acceleration) standpoint, would the 456's be the best option? ill probably run 285/65's on my stock 16's which stand at 33.1 inches tall. if i like the look i wont go bigger. Just want gears that will give me a quicker 0 to 60 & 1/4m. the stock tires are way too small in my opinion and i just cant leave them on there even if they do give you better mpg.
