Default Exhaust... last time

Ok so I'm for sure true dualing with two cats and straight pipes. but whats the sound difference gonna be if i do an h-pipe with one 02 sensor or if i buy two 02 sensors, one for each pipe. Is the "true dual" with an h-pipe gonna sound the same as one cat with a y pipe or will it give me some snap? I know its not gonna be true dual with an h pipe but still anybody answer this?

replacing the original y with an h is gonna give you a hair more of a rasp if its a new stainless one. id go catless unless you cant do that. catless will give you a little crackle, but the h pipe does five you a good rumble cuz of the crossover tube. will sounds good bro.

Y ou have to use an X or an H pipe for the o2 sensor. You can't just plug in a second o2.

I just had my cat taken out. It was already gutted with straight pipes. Now I have headers with the cat removed and swear it's quiter. Before around 2200 it would "clap" extremely loud. Now it seems to have more of a refined "performance" sound. I'd be willing to bet the dials with h pipe would sound amazing.

it will still be true duals with the H or X pipe.. you NEED that commonality to promote scavenging.. without it (lessening the vacuum effect), your exhaust will struggle to push the pulses clear of the system.. as far as an o2 in the X, Y, or H- that is a good place to put it so long as it is fairly close to the manifolds/headers.. too far back and I could see the sensor having issues getting accurate a/f data, because the temperatures (w/o a cat) would rapidly cool.. and that would alter the expected range the sensor needs to give accurate info..

on another note, and off subject- it's always been a curiosity to me about what sounds good and what doesn't when talking about engines.. engines with back-pressure give that blop/pop/rumble, where highly thought out and tuned engines kinda whoosh.. you would think folks would want to demonstrate the tune of their build, and WANT to show off the 'whoosh', but instead we try to develop mufflers that rumble.. strange when you think of it that way huh?

mufflers are almost all designed to extract the high notes and allow the low notes through.. glasspacks are an exception to that..

why is it we all think the blop'n rumble sounds so good? the affiliation to the lope of a cam?

If it were me- and for what it's worth, I'd be more concerned about the performance of your exhaust than the sound.. I don't mean that negatively- you can have both.. but get the thing right as far as scavenging first..

You do not need an X or H pipe nor does the O2 sensor need to be measuring both banks, measuring one side is plenty accurate for "our" purposes. Measuring from both just gives you a bit better average between the two banks.

I would recommend running an X or H pipe with duals though, and I also recommend mufflers, straight pipes sound like *** on almost everything.,

Yep the cat had been gutted by the previous owner. When I got it it had a flowmaster on it, that day I went and had the flow cut out and y installed in place of it.
