Default Question about crankshaft position sensor

I have a 2001 ram 2500 with the 5.9. About a month ago I went blasting through a puddle and the truck started bucking and backfiring so I did the first thing that came to mind cap, rotor, wires. After that she was running good, then I went through another puddle. Not only bucking but actually stalled out. I ended up getting a p1392. But as soon as she dried out was fine. I checked the ckp and the wires were all cracked and corroded so I went to advanced and picked one up. Ran ok for about 20 min then started missing and threw the code again. I brought it back and got another one, samething. Got my $ back and went to napa, Still missing. Is there a special way to install this thing? Am I supposed to shim it? I know its the sensor cause it ran fine with the original provided it was dry. I just dont get it.

Thanks

let me ask this do you have a aftermarket air cleaner on your truck? If so is your weather stripping intact? Has it been raining where you are? I know some guys who have aftermarket aircleaners and weather stripping is bad and water gets down in the throttle body. Sorry for all the questions just trying to help figure it out.

Not backfiring right now. But you can hear it popping through the exhaust. Like its not firing on one cylinder but I'm not getting a code for a missfire.

PLENUM GASKET IS BLOWN! Look down the throttle body with flash light with butterflies open, if there is oil residue on the bottom plenum needs to be fixed.
