Question '96 Tranny & Shifter Problem !!!

Need help !, I have a '96 2500 P.U. 4wd with 5.9. Had tranny rebuilt about
20kmiles ago and has been working fine. Headed to work one morning and would'nt shift without letting off on fuel between gears, all gears worked with no slipage, just had to back off on fuel to shift between. Got to work and shift lever would'nt go into park position without great force. Checked shifter linkage & played with adjustment - not the problem, disconnected
the shift linkage completely and selector on side of tranny would'nt go into park position. Reconnected linkage with same problems, Need to start in N
because shifter won't go far enough into park to start the truck. Drove it again and the same shifting problem remains. Tranny has no offensive or new noises associated with this problem, Very strange these 2 different types of problems happened at the same time !! I haven't dropped the pan to see if there are any parts laying yet because of no unusual noises. Any
thoughts on causes and repairs ??????????

Is it still under warranty? If so, head back to them, and see what they say.

If not..... time to drop the pan, and see if anything is obvious.
