Ok after waiting for almost a month I finally got my truck back with a brand new tranny installed. Now my speedo reads somewere around 10 mph too fast ( 45 is really 35) just guessing on the difference in speed based on what my speedo reads and what the other traffic is doing. Before the tranny swap the speedo was right based on traffic tickets lol. So WTF how do I fix this. I have 285/75/16 tires now but I'm going to install 276/75/16's this weekend which I know will s***w up the speedo even more. stock everything else except new tranny and transfer case, front drive shaft and I think he changed out the wiring harness to the tranny (the six wire hookup for the solinoids). Anybody got an idea??? Oh yeah 1996 2500 4x4 46re trans 360 motor 4.10 gears stock.

 

Did he put a new speedsensor in the trans? On the 96, the sensor was in the trans, and used a gear driven transducer.... if he changed the gear, speedo would be off. You can get new gears for around 30 bucks..... to correct for gear changes/tire size.
