Default Advice Needed... 1996 Ram 2500

Pardon my Dodge ignorance, but hoping for some experienced advice...

I stumbled across a 96 Ram 2500 with the 5.9L V8. Overall the truck is in pristine condition... with the exception of it's miles... 250,000!!!

The engine at this point is tired, but runs pretty smoothly. My debate is whether or not it might be worth it to pick the truck up for cheap, run it for a while, and perhaps rebuild the engine later on.

Any thoughts or advice on this issue??

The guy is asking way too much. But the tranny has supposedly been done. The truck drives great, and is physically in such good condition... worth it or not? Don't know.

See receipts for the trans before you give him a dime.

And yeah, nothing over 3 grand with that kind of mileage. Although, I would love to have the body.......
